Several listed Chinese banks have updated the public lists of their loan facilitation partners, and many names now carry an “existing business only” label, Beijing Business Today reported on October 26.
China Zheshang Bank listed 23 platform operators and credit enhancement firms as of September 30 and marked 16 of them existing business only, so it will start no new projects with them and will only collect on loans already made. Bank of Shanghai named five platforms (Douyin, Ping An Puhui 平安融易, Alibaba’s international trade site, JD and WeBank) with the operator, co-funder and guarantor for each product. Bank of Gansu named 18 partners plus one that has stopped new business but still has loans outstanding. Rules in force since October 1, 2025 require banks to publish these lists and bar them from working with firms left off.
The National Internet Finance Association of China (NIFA) runs a parallel check. Platforms that want to join its preparatory group for an internet lending self-regulatory committee must file an independent audit on whether they diverted borrower repayments owed to lenders. A second batch published on October 22 added 微财科技 Weicai, 维信金科 Weixin, 萨摩耶数科 Samoyed and 晓花科技 Xiaohua, for a total of 19 with no diversion found. Ant, JD, Du Xiaoman, Tencent and ByteDance are founding members and do not file.
Why it matters: The weak point in loan facilitation is the step where a platform collects repayments before passing them to the bank, and the NIFA audits test exactly that. Banks are keeping new volume with a short list of large platforms and letting smaller partners run off. Mid-sized facilitators that lose bank funding will need other licensed lenders willing to take them, or will shrink.
